Sangma hits at "import" of PMs

NCP's founder leader P A Sangma has said that its unfortunate that in the democratic country like India, we could not get a Prime Minister who is elected to Lok Sabha.

He said that such a thing is unthinkable in the country like United Kingdom to have nation's prime minister picked up from the House of Lords.

Sangma addressing a state level convention of NCP in Goa last evening, said that he is a very disappointed man. "I am a strong believer of the parliamentary system of government, but in the last 15 years, I am a very disappointed man," Sangma, former Lok sabha speaker said.

He said that in 1996 elections, Lok Sabha could not give prime minister of India. "Lok Sabha failed again to produce a prime minister and we had to borrow a chief minister from the state of Karnataka," the leader commented in presence of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar who chaired the convention.
Sangma said that again in 2009 again, the LS had failed to find a prime minister, which forced the country to pick a prime minister from the Rajya Sabha.

" I firmly believe that in parliamentary system, a country must elect its prime minister from the lower house," he commented.

Do all the Nations who have adopted democratic systems slowly tend to drift to a degenerated system, where the criminals and corrupt can easily grab the power and continue to occupy it for generations?

There is nothing wrong if an honest, educated and capable man is selected for the top post. It also does not matter for the common man whether he is a member of Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha or even if he is picked up from outside, provided he has the necessary vision and is able to give the country honest, corruption-free, strong and stable Govt!
