NDA partners shouldn'd interfere : Jana
14 April 2002 21:18 IST Bharatiya Janata Party president Jana Krishnamurthy has said that no ruling NDA ally should interfere into the affairs of the states ruled by their partners.
While clarifying that the BJP will not break its alliance with any of its partners, he however said some interesting developments may take place in coming days if the Telugu Desam party withdraws its support to the ruling coalition.
While denying the charge that the decision to dissolve Gujarat Assembly rather than removing chief minister Narendra Modi was in violation of the spirit of the NDA, the BJP chief also felt that any such question should be raised in the NDA and not in public.
On the contrary, he charged that raising objections publicly regarding Gujarat by its allies was not in spirit of the NDA or the understanding being developed between the partners in last three years.
Krishnamurthy admits that the TDP is not member of the NDA, but feels that they could very well discuss their reservations with the BJP in a friendly manner.
Referring to the TDP's Parliamentary Board taking place in Hyderabad, he said the BJP will accept whatever decision they take in this regard.
The BJP chief also did not agree with a view that a 'lakshman rekha' has been drawn at the Goa meeting, beyond which they would not succumb to any kind of pressure from its partners. "No need of such 'rekha' whenever there is proper understanding", he quipped.
He was also non-committal on forming government in UP with the BSP, provided they support the NDA at the centre in case the TDP withdraws its support. "Any new decision regarding UP will be taken by the parliamentary board. But there is no such concrete proposal so far", he claimed.
