Caurem tribals stop ore transport which starts despite CM’s order

It was a shocking morning for the tribals of Caurem village when they had to come back on the road once again as the ore transport started despite chief minister’s order to stop all the trucks till the issue is resolved.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has fixed second round of talks today evening after assuring the protesting villagers yesterday that ore transport would be suspended till they reach a final conclusion on the issue.
According to Nilesh Gaonkar, the village youth leader, Quepem deputy collector Shankar Gaonkar intervened to allow the trucks of Fomento.
“He told us that mines director had told him to allow Fomento trucks but not of Magnum as per CM’s orders”, said Gaonkar.
Neither deputy collector Gaonkar nor Mines Director Prasanna Acharya was available for their comments to confirm this claim.
But it was a fact that trucks of Fomento started transporting the e-auctioned ore and the villagers did not allow the trucks to operate.
The protesting villagers had complained to the CM that Fomento has shown 62 grade ore as 52 grade for the confiscated ore from their lease property while the quantity has also been shown half of what actually is.
The villagers were thus surprised that the state authorities allowed only Fomento to transport the ore and no other mining companies.
In this background, it needs to be seen what comes out of the second round of talks with the CM today evening.
