Goa plans 50th IFFI at permanent Centre at Dona Paula in 2019

The Government of India would celebrate golden jubilee of IFFI in its own full-fledged premises in 2019, in Goa.
The new premises would be located at Dona Paula, facing the Arabian Sea.
A process in this regard started rolling today with Goa government formally deciding to transfer around 2 lakh square metres of land on Taleigao plateau to the Entertainment Society of Goa.
The land was earlier acquired for an IT Habitat, which was later withdrawn as it turned out to be a real estate racket.
Goa’s new IT Park is now coming up at Chimbel.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the cost of this premises would be fully borne by Goa government, costing of which is yet to be worked out.
It would include an 8000-seater convention centre, 1000-room hotel, cinema theatres, offices of ESG and Directorate of Film Festival and other essential infrastructure.
The union government has already declared Goa a permanent venue of the International Film Festival of India.
While IFFI is held for only 10 days in a year, Goa government plans to make the place a centre of events of national and international stature.
Congratulations Goa. Hope this is planned well and meets International standards. No loot maar involved, at the same time, hope there are no unnecessary objections and protests raised just for the "heck of it".
Unfortunately Goa has lost on a lot of good projects for these two reasons--- "Loot Maar Mentality" and "Protest Mentality"
