Goa Govt issues notice to FTII students on parallel Film Fest

Goa government has slapped the protesting FTII students with a notice, this time sent by North Goa Collector, seeking censor certificates of the 20 films they plan to screen at its parallel film festival.
Pratik Vats, ex-student of FTII and Presidential award winning filmmaker, told goanews.com that they will screen all 20 censored films at the festival.
The protesting students and ex-students of the Film and Television Institute of India are holding two-day film festival at Nossa Senhora de Piedade Institute in Panaji, titled ‘Retracing Freedom.’
North Goa Collector Nila Mohanan served a notice at 7 pm today evening, based on media reports, seeking explanation regarding the festival while quoting Cinematograph Act, 1952 and Cinematograph (Goa, Daman and Diu Amendment) Act, 1986.
The explanation is sought as follows:
1. Whether the films going to be screened during the festival are duly certified by Censor Board of India as per the provisions of Section 5A of Cinematograph Act, 1952.
2. Whether entry to the said festival and the film screenings are through sale of tickets.
3. Whether any permission for the purpose of the Public Exhibition of the films has been taken under the provisions of the Goa Cinematograph Rules, 1965.
4. The details of the timing and dates of the screening as per the schedule.
5. Whether any such screening of films has been organised by your institute in the past.
Vats said they would reply to the notice tomorrow morning, before the festival begins at 11 am.
They plan to screen total 20 films in four sessions – 11 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 7 pm.
It also includes Vats’ film ‘Kal, 15 August, Dukaan Band Rahegi,’ which won the President’s Rajat Kamal Award in 2010.
