Watch 9 Indian classic films at Azad Maidan
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 18 November 2015 22:35 ISTEven if you are not a delegate, you can watch one good Indian film every day, at Azad Maidan in Panaji at 7.30 in the evening.
It would be Indian regional cinema, beginning with the remake of Guru Dutt’s famous Pyaasa of 1957.
Incidentally, Guru Dutt is originally a Konkani, from North Canara.
C Senthil Rajan, director of Directorate of Film Festivals, said the open screening of selected Indian regional cinema would be held for nine days, from 21 to 29 November.
The Indian classics include five Hindi films of Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa, Shyam Benegal’s Manthan, Sudhir Mishra’s Is Raat Ki Subaah Nahi, Mrinal Sen’s Ek Din Achanak and Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zameen.
Similarly, Ketan Mehta’s Bhavani Bhavai (Gujarati), Jabbar Patel’s Jait Re Jait (Marathi), G Arvindan’s Uttarayanam (Malayalam) and Ritwik Ghatak’s Ajantrik (Bengali) will also be screened.
