From K'taka, settled in Goa; neither care for them

Shekar Siddappa Madar was fourth time unlucky. Living on Baina beach in Goa’s Mormugao taluk, he has seen three demolitions in the 10 years he has lived there. On September 26, his house too, was brought down. Now, he pays an exorbitant monthly rent that is a great strain on his daily wages.

Last Saturday, the South Goa district administration demolished 157 houses, which Goa’s Coastal Zone Management Authority says are illegally built in a No Development Zone. Most of the people living in the area are poor migrants from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Just because the guy has a strain on his daily wages, does that mean he should be allowed to build illegal structures anywhere he desires to do so? if you read the entire story published above, the president of the kannadiga sangh, says that if the place is illegal, they should be given land and they will build their own house, then why don't they buy the land at current prices and build it.

It is not that we do not feel sorry for them and their children, but over the years, this has turned out to be a case too many, wherein given an inch, they grab a yard.

I call all goans to wake up and stop these illegalities, and fight all the corrupt politicians who have over the years encouraged these illegal settlements.
