Goa CM says NO as Karnataka lawyers try for settlement on Mhadei
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 09 September 2015 11:07 ISTAn attempt of Karnataka lawyers, especially from Dharwad, failed to persuade Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar for out-of-court settlement on the issue of Mhadei water diversion.
Karnataka seems to be trying all possible methods to try for an amicable settlement to divert 7.6 MT water from river Mahdei, which originated in Karnataka, to river Malprabha for Dharwad district.
Goa CM Parsekar has however taken a firm stand to wait for the outcome of Mhadei water dispute tribunal, where Goa has opposed any kind of water diversion.
Mhadei, known in Goa also as Mandovi, is the life line of Goa, says CM Parsekar.
A large delegation of Karnataka lawyers came down to Goa yesterday to meet the Goa chief minister.
