Don't send your children to Church-run Eng schools: BBSM

The Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch has appealed to the parents not to admit their children in the Church-run English medium primary schools from the next academic year.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-supported BBSM had organised a morcha in Panaji, to show the strength of ‘majority’ to the ‘minorities’, who are demanding government grants to all the English medium primary schools.

The public appeal made at the Azad Maidan in Panaji at the public meeting was an indirect admission of the fact that children of ‘majority’ community go to English schools run by the ‘minority’ institutes.

It did not matter how many people turned out for the morcha but today’s action was a clear indication that the BBSM, which was sitting quite on the BJP government’s action of giving government grants to Church-run English schools, is now on a warpath.

In fact Subhash Velingkar, the BSSM leader and Goa’s RSS Sanghchalak, said they would not keep quite on the issue even if it results into the downfall of the BJP-led coalition government or defeat for the BJP in the next Assembly election, scheduled in 2017.

One of the major plank on which the BJP won Assembly election in 2012, besides rampant corruption during the Congress regime, was the issue of Medium of Instruction.

BBSM was fighting for government grants only to Konkani and Marathi medium schools and not English.

The BJP had joined hands with the BBSM, who led state-wide agitation against Digambar Kamat-led Congress government, to win election by denouncing the government policy of giving grants only to the Church-run English medium schools, excluding other private primary schools in English medium.

However, after winning election with five MLAs belonging to minority community and support of four other legislators of minority community, the Manohar Parrikar-led BJP government continued the same MoI policy of the Congress, continuing grants to Church-run schools.

While the BBSM was quite on the volte face of the BJP, the issue came to a decisive point when FORCE, the organisation fighting for grants to English medium schools, blocked many roads of Goa last week.

In retaliation, the BBSM has now demanded to scrap the grants to Church-run schools while FORCE is demanding to extend government grants to all the English medium schools.

In order to activate the people, BBSM leader Anil Sawant today declared that the agitation would now be taken at taluka level.

Uday Bhembre, the leader of Goa’s Konkani movement, termed the FORCE action as not a mere step for English medium but a revival of the Portuguese agenda to denationalise Goans from its language and culture.

“English medium is a step of deculturisation, leading to the ultimate agenda of denationalisation. These are the same people who line up in front of the Portuguese Consulate for Portuguese passports. Tomorrow, these people would not hesitate to chant a slogan – Viva Portugal”, said Bhembre.

Stating that environment minister Alina Saldanha is a product of the denationalisation process since she cannot even speak Konkani, he also condemned all the 11 MLAs who signed a letter of assurance to FORCE to pass the legislation to give government grants to Church-run English medium schools.

The meeting also resolved to fight for primary education in Konkani and Marathi and oppose tooth and nail the attempts to give grants to all the English medium private primary schools.

The meeting also condemned the attempts of Diocesan Society of Education and Archdiocesan Board of Education to politicise educational field and bring parents on the roads by misguiding them.

There was a time when we all Indians use to say in school. India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters than why are you all fighting for languages? I think that now Indian people's all re planning to separate all the parts of India and than the government of India wants the Pakistan and China to take our country. Because we are not in love and unity than the other country will surely 1000 % will take India in their control. So please my Indian brothers and sisters and Indian government please don't fight for languages and religions and distroy our beautiful relationship with each other as human beings. But try to be with peace and love to all Indian brothers and sisters. Let you live and let our beautiful India live. And please let us all so live in peace with each other as mahatma Gandhi. Thanks

The communal church is controlling goa .arent the same hooligans who opposed konkan railway raising bogey of environment . In reality this people want to maintain christian identity of goa and erase all hindu identity of Goa . They can go to any extent to keep power in their Hand .Hindu community in Goa is not controlled or manipulated by any religious priest .but the church can manipulate christians any time . The christian of goa are like sheeps following the communal padres in all their activities . let all the schools managed by church give free english education to all who cant pay fee . they just want grants from Govt but not the rules framed by govt ,Isnt it same church which refused to take computer teachers selected by the govt . No issue let church give english medium to all schools but with its own money since it doesnt obey govt rules . some padrees had assaulted police officers velim these communal bigot now want cases withdrwn are they somebody special that rule of land doesnt apply to them .

Its high time govt wakes up to this dadagiri of the Goan church and takes effective steps to counter them

I have very high respect for my mother tongue Konkani. English being globally spoken language, it will definitely help the children of the common man to see beyond Goan horizons. Our so called leaders of these groups who are playing the language card are privileged people who have silver spoon in their mouth. Every one knows that majority of the people with Portuguese passports, go to UK where the English they have learned in school has kept them in good stead.Lets just say English did give them hope of a good life they never saw coming in Goa. What is the problem if we make Hindi and Konkani COMPULSORY subjects and English the study medium for other subjects. So far people from Goa are preferred on jobs abroad (jobs that our own nation cannot provide us) on account of our fluency in the English language. As the population of our country increases uncontrollably, landing a reasonable job is a miracle. So lets not disregard that. Lets not take the option of working outside Goa away from our children. We do not care if a Catholic, Hindu or Islamic run school is the source of education, but our childrens' bright future would be with a English medium school.

That should be very good... at least then the Christian children will be able to get easy admission to Church run schools.

The organization headed by a leader who bows down to the dictate of those who oppressed him and his forefathers is nothing but a front by extreme right wing Brahminical elements who want to march towards an autocratic Hindu Rashtra.

Velingkar believes that nationalism and Hindutva is inseparable and Hindu culture revolves around home, family and temple. Does he have guts to condemn evil practice of Devadasi among Hindus and publicly admit that this system was perpetrated by Brahmins for their own pleasures? His ancestors must have been victims of this practice.

If not he as a trustee of Mahalasa Devastahan , Verna , he should ask his son to hold ' divti' during the ' palkhi' ceremony and ask women in his family to sing and dance in front of the palkhi.

This is exactly why BJP looses. These morons will never ever get any sense. Always interfering in matters where they have no right. Moral policing, communalising ..bunch of useless dumbos. This is utter nonsense.. As a former student of a school run by Christian brothers I had the best education n I will want the same for my kids. I hope these guys get some sense. What wud be interesting is to which school are the kids\grandkids of these dumbos going to..I wnt be surprised

The parents of all the students learning in church convent an English medium private school has given a clear message to those people fighting under the banner BBSM that they want to provide quality education to their children, if these so called Bharatiya bhasha suraksha manch dont want to send their children to English school they must be welcomed by the government everybody prefers to send their child to English medium school all over India but cannot do cause of lack of English medium schools. BBSM is only trying to spoil the education system of the state of Goa.
