"I haven't skipped summons, I'll co-operate": Digambar

Former chief minister Digambar Kamat has denied that he has skipped the summons but the police have postponed his interrogation.

He will appear before the crime branch tomorrow morning at 10.

After reading the news, Kamat phoned goanews.com to clarify that he has not skipped the summons issued by the crime branch of Goa police in the Louis Berger bribery case.

“I will fully cooperate with the investigation. I have no reason to skip summons since I am not involved in the case”, he said.

Kamat was issued summons today afternoon, after the Assembly session, to appear before the crime branch by 4 pm.

“They told me that they are busy with some other work, thus they will let me know the new date and time”, said Kamat.

The police had earlier said that Kamat had skipped the summons and a fresh summons would be issued to him.

However, later in the evening, the investigating authorities confirmed the contention of Kamat, whom they informed to appear at a later date and time.

Sources in the crime branch said the police personnel were busy in the court, seeking remand for A M Wachasundar, the suspended project director of JICA water development project.

The crime branch officials also remained busy recording statement of former PWD minister Churchill Alemao till 4.30 pm.

Both Kamat and Churchill have been named by two former officials of Louis Berger International Inc., alleging that they paid a bribe of Rs 4 crore to both the former ministers of the Congress government.

Kamat however still denies the allegation.

“Show me one paper in the file where I have signed anything related to JICA project. The file never came to me”, he claims.
