I don't agree with Dipak's stand on convent schools: Parsekar

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today broke silence on the issue of convent schools and western culture leading to rapes, stating that he does not agree with his minister’s statement.

Factories minister Dipak Dhavalikar, belonging to alliance partner Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, had supported his wife Lata’s statement that rapes are one rise due to influence of western culture.

Mrs Dhavalikar, who is active member of Sanatan Saunstha, had also appealed to the people not to send their children to convent schools.

“I don’t support such statements and I also don’t agree with it”, said Parsekar, when media persons asked him.

Meanwhile, Caitu Silva, an MLA belonging to another alliance partner Goa Vikas Party, has reportedly said that it is good for Christians if Hindus don’t send their children to convent schools.

“The Christians will have more seats if Hindus don’t send their students to convent schools”, he has reportedly told section of media.

Responding to the war of words going on between the alliance partners, the BJP chief minister said it is high time he speaks to his colleagues supporting the government.

Parsekar, a teacher by profession otherwise, said he has seen worst schools run by convents or other managements and vice versa.

“You cannot generalise such things. I can show you worst schools run by all the management and also the best schools run by them”, he said.
