Goa's inspiring young entrepreneur Prashant Shinde no more

Prashant Shinde, the young Margao-based entrepreneur, shocked the whole state of Goa with his sudden exit, facing a cardiac arrest early today morning.

He was 36.

Shinde’s funeral leaves his Fatorda residence at 4.30 pm today, the Sunday, 22nd March 2015.

“Everything is Possible”, a favourite quote he lived with and proved it through his deeds, being the youngest successful Goan entrepreneur without having any business background.

Shinde, the chairman of Shinde Group of Companies, was also the president of Verna Industrial Association.

A first-generation entrepreneur, he was heading Shinde Industries, Shinde Developers, Shinde Packaging, Shinde Ariston Packaging, Reliance Printers and Shinde Tredewheel.

After schooling at Regina Martyrum Highschool at higher secondary at Damodar Higher Secondary School in Margao, he finished his engineering at Fr Agnel Polytechnic at Verna.

He is survived by his wife Supriya and two daughters.

Shinde suddenly collapsed while celebrating his birthday (18 March) and New Year with his f friends last night at Mobor. Rushing him to Nusi Wockhardt Hospital did not bear any fruits.

He was more than an industrialist, in fact a real inspiration to the budding young entrepreneurial minds.

As the Association president, he had started a unique programme recently – Kaun Banega Udyogpati – a quiz for students, from SSC and above, who would be incubated as young entrepreneurs to venture into business.

More than a cash prize of Rs one lakh, the first prize included a one-year free of cost support from Fr Agnel’s incubation centre in Verna to start the business.

The first-generation entrepreneur had not just stopped at that. The quiz committee selected a batch of 50 would-be entrepreneurs for mentoring. After displaying their presentation of their business plan, project cost and finances needed, the committee selected the 10 best presenters with enterprising ideas, to be trained with advanced mentoring by a corporate head from a Verna industry.

Shinde was a man, who sought to ‘instigate young Goans to take up entrepreneurship’.

However, he will remain an immortal inspiration for everyone who have heard or will hear his amazing story from humble beginnings in Assolna to heading the Shinde Group of Companies.

Recently he was awarded by Business Goa for running the Industry of the Year.

Trainers’ Association Goa had awarded him The Entrepreneur Achiever Award in 2013.

But besides his many awards, the greatest would be the applause of the young students whom he ‘instigated to turn entrepreneurs’.

His status on Facebook said what Shinde was:

I love being who I am and you should always do what you feel do to or you will be forced to do what other want. It’s not important how many years you live but it’s more meaningful what you have done good to you and others in this lifetime. Enjoy and live Kingsize and always keep smiling and give love to everyone. Cheeeers N I love uuuuuu….
