Goa-Mumbai to be 4-lane concrete highway: Gadkari

Describing the Mumbai-Goa national highway as "death trap", Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said it will be soon converted into a four-lane concrete road at the cost of Rs 4,500-5,000 crore.

Replying to a supplementary during Question Hour, he said though there were some problems regarding land acquisition, it would be sorted out in the next three months.

"The stretch has become a death trap. So we have decided to convert it into a four-lane concrete road," Gadkari said.

He added it would require Rs 4,500-5,000 in doing that. Widening of the stretch would reduce accidents, he said.

To another question, Gadkari said around five-lakh road accidents take place each year and the casualties relating to these accidents reach up to 1.5 lakh.

honorable Minister Gadkariji,

I am requesting yous a Social worker of this area .Please sanction By pass for Lanja, Rajapur and Pali in ratnagiri district. Sir mainly Lanja and Rajapur blocks are backward. there is no any single opportunity for getting job . all youths are unemployed. If you sanction by pass for this 2 small villages then there is chance for development . The MIDC will come at near by pass. The industries will beat near bthe by pass.and it will save more than 400 small shopkeepers who are earning their bread. Please think they have taken loans from banks for their small shops. how they will repay this. if the 4 lane divert their every days bread earning small shops .and it is not up to this your main target to reduce the accidents by this widening 4 lane. dear sir there is big school near this old road and more than 1500 students walking everyday through this road. and this will divert your main goal reduce accidents . I am scared about this .we don't want to loose our next generations single students. the last sir by widening this old road we will loose health care facility, government offices near bythis as wel as your governments rest house too.

my humble request to you on behalf of this 2 small developing villages please do the best way By passroad for this Lnaja and Rajapur.
