KRC cancels 3 trains, reschedules 2 & diverts 6, 'Goods' derailed
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 07 October 2014 18:16 ISTSeven trains were cancelled, two rescheduled and six trains were diverted on Konkan railway route today due to goods train derailment today morning, near Chiplun.
12 wagons of a good train got derailed between Chiplun and Kamthe stations today morning at 7.45, affecting the railway transport severely.
B G Ghatge, Senior Manager of Public Relations of KRC, said three Down trains going to Madgao and Sawantwadi – Mandovi Express, Janashatadbi Express and Diva-Sawantwadi Passenger were cancelled.
Similarly, Up trains going to Diva and Mumbai – Mandovi, Janashatadbi as well passenger trains going to Sawantwadi and Ratnagiri – were cancelled.
Matsyagandha trains from Mumbai and Mangalore were rescheduled by four hours and two hours respectively. The former was in fact also diverted through another route.
Similarly, five more trains were diverted, besides Matsyagandha. These are Netravati Express, which left from Trivandrum yesterday and from Mumbai today, Veraval Express from Trivandrum, Hapa Express from Tirunvelveli as well as Kochiveli Express from Mumbai.
The KRC authorities also transshipped passengers between Chiplun and Ratnagiri by exchanging passengers between stranded Mangala Express, Kerala Sampark Kranti and Goa Sampark Kranti.

He has clarified that passengers could also refund due to the tragedy that has occurred and inconvenience caused to the passengers.
