Digambar & 5 others issued summons in illegal mining

Former chief minister Digambar Kamat and five top bureaucrats have been issued summons by the Special Investigation Team in illegal mining cases.

The SIT, belonging to the Economic Offences Cell of Goa police, has finally moved into action, based on a complaint filed by former Congress spokesperson Sudip Tamankar.

The SIT plans to issue summons to total 12 persons, six of which have been issued summons to appear before the team.

The rest would follow shortly.

Besides Kamat, the others include former law secretary V P Shetye, suspended mines director Aravind Lolayekar, another former mines director J B Bhingui, mines officer Sham Sawant and law under secretary Smita Chandwani.

Former CM Kamat faces the charge as the former mines minister.

The SIT has issued summons after gathering enough evidence against all the suspects.

The interrogations would follow arrests, if required.

Very good news. This will be highly beneficial to Digambar Kamat and others as they will get clean chit. No substantial evidence will be found. A cloud of suspense will disperse by which timet people will get another chance to scratch the scrotal eczema of another "scam".
