Australian ‘Beatriz’s War’ bags Golden Peacock at 44th IFFI

 

Magdalena Boczarska receiving Best Female Actor award at 44th IFFI

‘Beatriz’s War’, the East Timor film from Australia, bagged the Golden Peacock at the 44th edition of International Film Festival of India.

The film directors Bety Reis and Luigi Acquisto received the award from Goa Governor Bharart Vir Wanchoo at the concluding ceremony held in Panaji today evening.

Kaushik Ganguly, the Indian director of  ‘Apur Panchali’, was selected the Best Director at the 44th IFFI.

Alon Moni Aboutboul was chosen to the best male actor for his film ‘A place in Heaven,’ the Israeli film directed by Yossi Madamony.

Similarly, Magdalena Boczarska was awarded the best female actor for the Polish film ‘In Hiding.’

The Centenary award was given to the film "Meghe Dhaka Tara," directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee.

 

Chief guests of IFFI, Hollywood actor Michelle Yeoh and Bollywood’s veteran actor Asha Parekh, gave the centenary award to the director.

Remo Fernandes, Goa-based Indian rock star, enthralled the audience with his brilliant performance and even made the crowd sing and clap, including the VVIPs present among the 2000 odd audience at the concluding ceremony.
