Sack Parsekar & conduct CBI probe, demands NCP

The Nationalist Congress Party has demanded that health minister Laxmikant Parsekar be sacked for his alleged involvement in blood bank racket at Goa Medical College hospital.

The party wants a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigations.

Addressing a press conference in this regard today, NCP vice president Trajano D’Mello charged that Parsekar had even misguided the House in this regard during a recently concluded Assembly session.

He charged that GMC hospital patients are forced to conduct their pathological tests at private laboratories, who have been charging exorbitant fees.

D’Mello also alleged that no proper procedures are being followed at the GMC in procuring drugs as well as medical equipment, which smacks of corruption.

He also said the minister was responsible in giving out of turn admission to students at GMC for the post-graduate courses, by sidelining students who had passed out under NEET examination, in violation of the Supreme Court order.

Though the court later on scrapped the judgement not to follow NEET, even the earlier judgement was not made applicable to the students who had already passed the NEET examination.

The apex court had passed serious strictures on Goa government for creating the mess.

In spite of this, said D’Mello, Parsekar had given a written reply in the Assembly that the Supreme Court had not passed any strictures.

“We thus demand a CBI inquiry into the blood bank racket, drugs and equipment purchase racket as well as admission racket”, said D’Mello.
