Kajaria to submit supplementary report

K P Kajaria, the BCCI observer for the final ODI played in Goa between India and Australia, is planning to submit supplementary report on the match, following the controversy over bogus tickets being sold.

After skipping interrogation thrice earlier, Kajaria finally reported at the Margao police station here last week in connection with the ongoing investigations into the bogus ticket racket of around Rs one crore.

According to police inspector Umesh Gaonkar, Kajaria had not mentioned anything in his report submitted to the BCCI about the cricket fans not being allowed in the stadium but chased away by resorting to canecharge on 6 April.

Though the report is primarily restricted to certain points chalked out by the BCCI, Gaonkar says the observers are free to mention other observations they make during the match. But his report stated that the match went on very smoothly without any problem.

Police wonder why Kajaria, who was staying at a palacious five start resort in South Goa during his Goa visit for the ODI, did not take cognisance of tickets numbering double the capacity of the Fatorda stadium were sold to the public.

Kajaria has told the police that even the Goa Cricket Association did not mention it to him though the local organising body had filed a police complaint in this regard at the police station the previous days.

The police have in fact pointed out to Kajaria that even the entry pass issued to him was actually a ticket of Rs 750 but was changed to a complimentary pass. He has now assured the police to submit a supplementary report to the BCCI in this regard.

Meanwhile, Venkat Raut Desai and Joaquim Peres, two assistants of the ticket contractor, surrendered before the police today. Both of them were absconding all these days.

The police have also challenged the high court order granting conditional bail to Dayanand Narvekar, the GCA president and former deputy chief minister, in the Supreme Court. He is considered to be the key person behind the scam.
