Rain water almost getting into the houses at Sanvorkotto
Around 50 families were shifted from Sanvorkotto area of Cuncolim today due to incessant rains flooding the whole area.
The areas that were hit the most in South Goa today due to continuous rains were Cuncolim, Balli and Paddem.
Paddem, on Margao-Quepem road, was overflooded as usual and people of South Goa considered it as an alert signal – Paddem buddlem (Paddem is submerged).
Authorities moved into swift action as rain water started rising at Sanvorkotto in Cuncolim and immediately shifted around 50 families to the community hall in Cuncolim.

The National Highway 17 remained closed for almost two hours as water started flowing over the road at Uskini bandh, with no road could be located.
Similarly, on the same highway, Balli junction was also overflooded.
The situation could worsen, it was predicted, if the incessant rains continue the whole night.
