Transporters lobby in Delhi to pressurise Parrikar
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 16 May 2013 20:53 ISTThe All India Motor Transport Congress is trying to pressurize Goa government from the centre to withdraw the Toll Tax it has imposed on outside vehicles at the entry point.
The AIMTC has claimed that the union ministry for road transport of highways has sent a letter to the state government, seeking withdrawal of the entry tax.
“The letter would be sent by tomorrow to Goa government”, Bal Malkit Singh, the AIMTC president, told goanews.com.
On the other hand, the transporters’ Delhi-based leaders are also lobbying through the central BJP leaders to persuade chief minister Manohar Parrikar, who is adamant on withdrawing the Toll Tax.
He however claims that their Boycott Goa has evoked full response from all the transporters and not a single goods vehicle has entered Goa since last four days.
However, in reality, even the vehicles carrying essential commodities from Belgaum, Karwar and Sindhudurg have reached Goa.
The real deadlock however is Kolhapur, from where Goa gets maximum amount of food grains and cereals.
The transporters literally either unload the vehicles or stop any vehicle proceeding to Goa via Kolhapur.
As transporters from Pune, Mumbai and even Belgaum have slowly started entering Goa, the AIMTC leaders in the national capital have started lobbying through the national BJP leaders.
“We are meeting Mr Arun Jaitley either tonight or tomorrow morning”, Singh told goanews.com.
The AIMTC is trying to have a dialogue with chief minister Manohar Parrikar and other senior government officials as none of them went to address their convention held in Goa on 8 May.
“The chief minister neither accepted the invitation for our convention nor gave us an appointment”, says Singh.
strange are the ways of politics. The stand of BJP govt in goa in general and parrikar in particular are in many ways not only anti india they are also anti hindu. This govt put unreasonable and illegal restrictions on free entry of indians in goa as if goa is part of portugal, this govt take stand against regional languages marathi and konkani and support portuguese in garb of English, this govt supports all anti india pro portugal priests, this govt opposes development of north goa by supporting anti mopa agitators.
When Shishupal did 100 crimes lord destroyed him. same happened with congress in goa. Manohar is going in same direction. What troubles me is how did RSS and Sanatan Sanstha became impotent against this anti india and anti hindu acts of this Govt?
