Parrikar has exposed power greed: NCP

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has exposed his greed for power by not making it compulsory for a corrupt minister to resign in the Lokayukta act, alleges Nationalist Congress Party.

While passing the revised Lokayukta amendment bill, Parrikar had refused to change the provision of resigning, from ‘may’ to ‘shall’, making the minister to resign as a compulsion once he is proved to be corrupt by Lokayukta.

NCP local chief spokesperson Trajano D’Mello has also congratulated Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo for sending the Lokayukta amendment bill for reconsideration.

“The Governor compelled the government to reduce the fine for false and frivolous complaints filed before the Lokayukta as well as forced the government to change the clause of ‘deemed rejected’ to ‘deemed accepted”, he said.

D’Mello has also demanded that the Chief Minister should make necessary amendments to define the presently ambiguously defined ‘frivolous and vexatious’ complaints.

He has also congratulated the RTI forum for exerting pressure on the government to make a statement on the floor of the house that the State Information Commissioner would be appointed within a month.
