Waman Kamat RTI Award instituted

The first ever RTI achievement award has been instituted in Goa, called Mhablu alias Waman Vishnu Kamat RTI Award.
The award would be give to RTI activist, Public Information Officer or a journalist for his or her RTI-related achievement.
Prakash Kamat, a senior Goa journalist, announced this award of Rs 5000 recently at the rural RTI convention held at Madkai, on behalf of the whole Kamat family in memory of his late father.
“RTI is a very important tool to eradicate the corruption. It is a simple process of filling one application, getting relevant documents and tracing the illegalities”, said Kamat, while appealing common man to use this weapon.
The first award winner would be announced at the next RTI convention.
