Rayeshwar Enggs record lowest placements

Rayeshwar College, Shiroda

Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and IT, run by Goa Congress chief Subhash Shirodkar, has the lowest rate of placements among the four institutes run in Goa.

The highest placement rate is recorded by BITS Pilani, followed by government-run Goa’s oldest Goa College of Engineering.

Padre Conceicao is third in the line.

The information supplied by chief minister Manohar Parrikar to Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai provides a break-up since 2009.

But no records are provided for the academic year 2012-13, except for BITS Pilani.

Parrikar has also informed that the training and placement cell at all these four institutes liason regularly with the industry for annual placements of passed out students.

The students enrolled at BITS Pilani every year are approximately 650 while their placements have always been above 400 and once 517 in 2011-12.

The number of passed out students of Goa Engineering College are between 300 to 385 while the placements are between 120 to 230.

Almost 200 to 300 students pass out from Padre Conceicao College every year. The placements have however dropped drastically in this college in last three years.

The last choice for placements however has been the Rayeshwar Institute. Against passed out students between 160 to 180, the placement has never crossed 70.

I am an ex-student of one of the above colleges.. placed in MNC.. Wat I and my colleagues found that the quality of teaching is extremely low.. Students themselves have to learn if they wanna get good *score*.. but in current market the requirements have changed so much that watever is taught is not at all compatible with the business needs.... it will be really tough time for those who didnt get placed.. N as out GOA is not having any scope for these techies, they all have to search and compete with others in other metros...
