Cong still playing 'safe' on Playboy

The Congress party is ‘officially’ playing safe on the issue of Playboy Club being set up in Goa.
“We will take a decision only after the government clears its stand on Monday”, said Sudip Tamankar, the official spokesman.
He also did not comment on the involvement of their party’s ex-MLA Agnelo Fernandes in starting Playboy.
It is apparently coming up in Agnelo’s own property in Calangute constituency.
Calangute MLA of BJP Michael Lobo has vehemently opposed his own government’s plan to take ahead the Congress decision to start Playboy Club in Goa.
Goa PCC chief Subhash Shirodkar had also taken a guarded position on the issue last week, stating that it is not good for Goa’s health, but did not elaborate.
“Why should we take a position before knowing what the government thinks”, asked Tamankar, in an attempt to dodge the issue.
Tourism minister Dilip Parulekar has assured to make its policy clear on Monday in the Assembly.
Chief minister Manohar Parrikar also hinted on Friday in the House that the issue of Playboy would be ‘resolved’ on Monday, but did not reveal in what way.
Goa Pradesh Youth Congress however has categorically threatened to come on streets against Playboy, stating it does not fit in Indian culture.
However, GPYC president Pratima Coutinho had suddenly gone mum when asked about Agnelo’s involvement in it.
All India Mahila Congress president Anita Varma had also expressed her reservations about Playboy, but left it to the ‘people of Goa’ to take a final call.
