Belgaum traders threaten 'stop-trade' from 14 Apr

 

Belgaum Chamber of Commerce has threatened to stop transportation of goods and vegetable to Goa from Sunday if Goa government does not abolish the entry tax imposed on vehicles entering the tourist state.

The wholesale traders from Belgaum have also cautioned that they will have no other option than hiking the price of all the commodities traded in Goa from Belgaum.

The news reaching here from Belgaum reveals that the members of Chamber have decided to meet chief minister Manohar Parrikar in this regard.

The meeting held in Belgaum was reportedly attended by traders involved in vegetables, milk, grains, textiles, steel, automobiles, coal as well as taxi operators.

According to the Belgaum chamber members, almost 5000 vehicles travel on Goa-Belgaum road every day to trade different commodities.

The vehicles use NH 4A and 4B to transport their goods to Goa.        

Goa government has decided to charge one-time entry tax of Rs 1000 for vehicles above six wheels, Rs 500 for six-wheelers, Rs 250 for four-wheelers and Rs 100 for two-wheelers.
