Goa plans to limit liquor outlets
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 09 April 2013 19:38 ISTGetting liquor outlet license would be quite tough henceforth as the state government plans to impose restrictions on it.
“Goa does not need to any more licenses”, said chief minister Manohar Parrikar.
The issue was raised by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo.
Parrikar now plans to set up a committee of around seven persons by June to monitor the licensing system.
In fact he wants to be strict with liquor outlets selling liquor in violation of the license.
“We will fine the outlet owner as well as the customer if the outlet meant for selling packed bottles selling liquor in retail”, he said.
Even the excise inspectors allowing these illegalities would not be spared, he said.
Lobo also urged the CM to bring down the timing of such liquor outlets to 8 pm instead of 11 pm.
“They take advantage of that and remain open till early morning sometimes”, he pointed out.
