Will inquire & file FIR as per HC order: CM

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has said the government would abide by the high court order to file FIR against those likely to have been involved in illegal mining.

He told goanews.com that he is aware of the high court order and he would follow it.

However, he also clarified that he is not aware of all the details.

Based on Kashinath Shetye’s petition, the high court has ordered to file the First Information Report against those involved in illegal mining, within six weeks.

“Has the high court mentioned names of the people against whom the FIR has to be filed”, asked the chief minister.

As there is no specific mention that the FIR should be filed against all the 151 parties mentioned in Shetye’s complaint, Parrikar said the police would conduct proper inquiry and then file the FIR.

“There is absolutely no harm in filing FIR as it is against the persons likely to be involved. Then the investigation starts”, he pointed out.

The complaint mentions at least two former chief ministers – Pratapsing Rane and Digambar Kamat, besides another former chief minister Ravi Naik’s son Roy.

Besides almost all the mine owners, the complaint has also mentioned names of the top officials of several departments belonging to the central and state government.
