Sal river to be now Eco Tourism spot

Goa government has decided to develop Sal River in Bicholim as an eco-tourism zone with infrastructural facilities.

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar said he would support to promote all such spots in several villages of Goa, in order to make the villages self-sufficient and promoting village tourism in the hinterland.

He was speaking at an inaugural function of light motor vehicular bridge across river Chapora at Sal-Ibrampur on Sunday.

The bridge is built spending Rs 1.5 crore.

Parrikar said the government would shortly depute a security guard as well as a life guard at the spot while constructing few cottages.

“This will be a good picnic spot for the tourists as well as Goan families and youth”, he said.

The function was also attended by Speaker Rajendra Arlekar, water resources minister Dayanand Mandrekar, Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal and others.

Local farmers, whose land was acquired for the project, were felicitated at the hands of the chief minister.

Earlier, Chief Engineer Nadkarni welcomed the gathering while Shilpa Naik proposed a vote of thanks.
