Govt servant with bogus docs to be dismissed

Goa government has decided to prosecute and dismiss a government servant, if found to have produced bogus documents to get a job.

The state cabinet however today deferred its proposal to offer voluntary retirement to those employees who have fraudulently entered the government service.

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar, after the cabinet meeting, told media persons that the government, in future, would send all the certificates to Goa University or Goa Board of Education for authentication.

“If we find that the documents are bogus, we will either prosecute or dismiss the government service”, he said.

Parrikar also clarified that the decision on the existing government’s bogus documents is not scrapped but deferred for the time being for more modifications.

The cabinet had a proposal to direct all the government servants to produce their documents before competent authority within 60 days or either resign or take voluntary retirement to avoid disciplinary action after 60 days.

According to Parrikar, there are many such government servants recruited by the erstwhile Congress government, especially in the Health and PWD departments, indicating fraud on the part of formers ministers Vishwajeet Rane and Churchill Alemao.

“The cabinet however felt that the proposal be made a part of the whole voluntary retirement scheme the government is planning to float shortly”, he claimed.

According to him, nobody would voluntarily come forward as he or she would be identified to have entered government service in a fraudulent manner, thus it has been deferred for further medications.

Taking up a post in government departments and offering jobs to those who produced duplicate certificates is itself a crime.

Services of such persons need to be terminated forthwith and jobs offered to others who have worked hard to obtain qualifications.

Allowing cheats to continue in government service is injustice to those who obtain qualifications by hard work.

Those who join government service by producing cannot be offered any retirement benefits. Instead, they should be prosecuted for cheating.

Mr Monohar Parrikar the Chief Minister of Goa is going great guns on everybody in Goa.

But those employees who are drawing pension after supernuations and whose service has been extended or taken back on contract basis with renumarations are being spared.

Will those who opt for Voluntary retirement be taken back with a contract and renumuration will be a big question.
