CM blasts Supreme Court on mining ban order

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has blasted the Supreme Court for its verdict on illegal mining in Goa.
"I have a strong objection to the Supreme Court order. The apex court has always messed up such issues", he said.
Parrikar spoke at lenght on the whole issue of mining at the 64th birth anniversary of his ministerial colleague Matanhy Saldanha, who suddenly died of heart attach on 21st March this year.
According to Parrikar is the government that has to deliver and not the courts.
He said the Supreme Court had done nothing different from what his government had done.
"We brought the whole mining activity to halt soon after Justice Shah Commission report was made public. The Supreme Court did the same thing later", he said.
He also went further stating that he is not into a blame game but courts actually mess up such issues.
The chief minister also claimed that it was a very difficult to recover Rs 35,000 crore that was earned by the mine owners by getting themselves into illegal mining activity.
"I have to follow a legal procedure to recover it, failing which the mine owners would go to the court and the case would go on", he said.
He also asked in how many cases the Supreme Court had succeeded in recovering the money from the scamsters, except the scam of Satyam.
Aires Rodrigues, a social activist, has however taken serious note of Parrikar's statement and has moved to the court with a contempt petition.
The opposition Congress has also condemend Parrikar's statement, alleging that it amounts to contempt of the court.
The Congress has also, for the first time, has demanded that the government should recover Rs 35,000 crore from the mine owners.
