We have full faith in Parrikar: mine owners

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today began parlays with mining stakeholders, beginning with iron ore exporters to mitigate the effect on people dependent on mining after implementation of the Shah Commission report.

Officials of Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association (GMOEA) met Parrikar at state ministerial block this morning.

GMOEA President Shivanand Salgaoncar said the industry is hopeful that the state government will work out a way from the crisis, after lease licenses of 90-odd mines were suspended last week.

"Chief Minister knows everything.. We have full faith in him," Salgaoncar told reporters.

Salgaoncar said the Chief Minister has agreed to let the export of the ore which is lying at jettties and the port.

"Whichever mine owner produces the documents by November will be allowed to start the mining lease. Those who don't have valid permissions won't be allowed," he said.

Salgaocar, heading the iron ore exporters body, said the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) which had announced that it would be suspending the Environment Clearances of the mines, are yet to issue the orders.

"At least till morning, we had not received any order," Salgaoncar said.

The state government, fearing that the implementation of Shah Commission report might have adverse impact on the people dependent on the mining industry, has began the exercise to take into confidence the state holders.

The government is also expected to meet other stake holders, including truck owners, barge (ship) owners and banks, to ascertain the amount of loans given to various people in mining industry.

it is worrisome to see that parrikar is behaving with the same way with mining companies the way ravi naik was behaving with matkawalas. And it is more worrisome that mineowners are behaving the same way. First shut them then decide hafta and then let them do their business. If parrikar is genuine than he should form goa state mining corporation, nationalise mining and run them through state govt. This will end mining scam, save environment and make state of goa self sufficient. only this step would bring us goans peace. Govt will not even need to take tax from people if mining profits go to govt. But question is, there is a golden opportunity but does parrikar have guts? Or is he same as rane and digamber? Afteall he too was cm from 2000-05 and his signs are on digambers mining files too.

These Miners have raked in billions and trillions $ of mining money and they have cash stashed all over including the Swiss banks, Australia, etc.

Mine owners should show respect to the land that has fed them for centuries by mining in environmentally sustainable way.

Where was Salgaokar when his mining cohorts were bending rules and illegally mining left and right. Why did he stay mum back then.

I am surprised with the shameless, looters audacity and giving interviews to the press. These looters, mine owners who has formed an association should pay back the looted 35,000 crores to Goa government. It is groans wealth. Until this wealth is recovered, no mining should be allowed in Goa. Ban mining in Goa forever. Mr. Parrikar, please, please, don't allow these looters get scot free. We want to see them behind the bars. Media and Press, please, please, don't place their photos on your editions. I feel sick, to read/watch these people, rogues in the media. Ban their interviews to the press. Let them suffer.

They will certainly have full faith in Manoharbaab ut of no choice. If the CM was someone else, the too they would show similar faith in that person. What is so newsworthy about it?

As Manoharbaab moves on without bothering to be responsible for his own statements and assurances before elections, like any other politician, the shield of RSS elements well know that it is no more possible to fool the bahujan samaj with their lies and falsehood. What will Parrikar do? Is he a messiah from the heaven to clean the mess his predecessors and he himself has created for political gains. Ultimate aim of any politician is the power and Parrikar has been trained enough in 'Chanakya Niti' in the RSS 'Bouddhik' classes.

He will will retire from the local politics because his eyes are now cast on being the next Prime Minister of India. He very well knows that with so much of crap floating in the party due to internal differences between the Sangh Parivar and its leaders, his name would certainly come up as the compromise candidate. And why not? By then he will have enough credentials and qualification of being good administrator and visionary leader.

Al this at the cost of Goa and the voice of Goa would be too feeble to oppose a man of whose next aim is to be the PM.

Only hope is from the generation next who can see through this game due to the exposure to mass and social media.

10 big mining houses are main people involved in 35K crores illegal mining in Goa. They have looted Goa for last 10 years which Portuguese could not loot during their 451 yrs rule in Goa. I would sincerely request our CM Mr Parrikar to arrest and put for life time in Bars all those mining looters (Chowgule, Dempo, Salgaocars, Timblos, Bandekars etc) confiscate their property, freeze their bank account till 35 K crores are recovered and cancel permanently their mining licences. GMOEA is also controlled by same looters. Mining is backbone of Goa's economy and hence through new application and thereby new licences, Parrikar should handover to fresh generation entrepreneurs for carrying forward legal mining business.
