Goa to implement most recommendations of Shah Comn: CM

Goa government has decided to implement all the recommendations in the Justice MB Shah Commission's report, which was tabled in the Parliament.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said in Panaji on Saturday that state government agreed with almost all the recommendations barring a couple where it could not accept interpretation of law by the Commission.
Goa Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) would start implementing them after a week's time, he said.
The report puts the illegal mining turnover in Goa at Rs 35,000 crore, and blames former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and officials of DMG, Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, and Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) for not taking action.
It has recommended closing down of several mines, including 33 ones which are within one km of wildlife sanctuaries.
Parrikar said the state government will identify the mines which have all the permissions in place.
"In case of the rest, if there are serious illegalities, they will be stopped immediately, while in the case of others they will be given notice and heard before asking them to shut down," he said.
The state government will also verify all the permissions granted to mining leases as some of the environmental clearances (ECs) were found to be dubious. ECs are granted by MoEF.
I have kept my "fingers crossed" and am anxiously awaiting for the U-TURN from Mr Parrikar.
If not a complete U Turn...we should expect a watered down, Justice.
It is always very difficut to "Chop" the hands that "feed" you!!.
This will be a good Test for Mr Parrikar.
Is he going to act as a "Real Man" or..... a Mouse?.
With Rs. 35 Thousand Crores recovered from the Mining Criminals,,Goa could overtake Singapore or be just like on.
Mr Parrikar should known that all Goans are behind him over this MIning scam.
Lets us hoope he leaves with a good Legacy before he retires.
