Alina is Forest & Environment minister

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has been allotted forest and environment portfolios.
The same portfolios which her late husband Matanhy was handling have been allotted to her, except the tourism portfolio.
After Matanhy’s sudden death on 21 March, tourism portfolio was allotted to Saligao MLA Dilip Parulekar, in the second phase of cabinet expansion.
Alina was elected unopposed from Cortalim on 21 May.
She is the only woman minister in the Manohar Parrikar cabinet.
In fact the BJP did not have a single ticket allotted to a woman candidate in the Assembly election held in March this year.
Following Jennifer Monseratte, wife of Babush, from Congress, Alina is the second woman to enter the Goa Assembly during this term.
