Replicating Nayak in real life not possible: Parrikar
PTI, PANAJI | 09 June 2012 19:40 ISTAnil Kapoor-starrer 'Nayak' may be Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's favourite film but he feels that the pace at which the chief minister has been shown working in the movie is just impossible.
"In 'Nayak', may have shown that everything can be done within 24 hours. But in real life its not possible," Parrikar told PTI reacting to people's expectations to set right the things in the state within record time.
"I suppose, if I do it, I will be the first person to face a case before Lokayukta," said the Chief Minister.
Nayak: The Real Hero, a 2001 film is a story about a journalist-turned-politician who becomes the most popular chief minister of Maharashtra due to his quick actions.
The BJP-led by Parrikar managed to sweep March 3 State Legislative Assembly polls and has been under immense pressure to perform, after poor output of former Digambar Kamat led government.
Soon after taking over the reins, the CM had said that he had a pile of 12,000 files pending to be cleared. He had said that he will take at least six months to get the state back on track.
Yes, it is not possible to do what the actor CM does in the film Nayak, in such a short time. Such speed can be achieved only in the film world.
Wherever Goans are based around the globe, they are watching you and from what I hear from many Goans, I can say that people are happy with what you are doing in this real life world
Please maintain the same tempo and try to do the best for Goa and Goans.
Keep it up!
Good performance shown by the new Govt...It will take some time to clean the mess of so many years....The Bureaucrats will need re-orientation to dispose off files speedily and many will need to change the mindset of deliberately delaying for ulterior motives...
Checks and counter checks are necessary...In this Country the Bureaucracy has expanded and made procedures override the performance and output..
.In foreign Countries, once the Budget is given, how to spend it etc is all left to the Head of Dept but here it is the following of clumsy procedures which is considered more important and many times in the process the public money is misused and projects delayed..
Unless there is revival of the value system in education...the rot will continue and there are no ready short cuts....
