No more casinos in Goa
29 December 2004 22:52 IST Goa government today clarified that it would not give permission to any more floating casinos in the state.

The Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday clarified that he would not allow any more such casinos in the state waters.
Parrikar stated that three companies had applied with the state govenment to set up casinos on lines with Caravela.
They were denied the permission.
Goa government, however, is open for casinos on the cruise liners.
``These ships will not be stationed in Goan waters. Instead, they will travel to other nations and would use Panaji port for embarking and disembarking the passengers,'' he stated.
Though the state government has not yet received any such proposals for casinos on cruise liners, the chief minister said we may consider their proposals.
He, however, added that the permission would depend on what is their requirement.
'Casino Goa' is 215 ft. long cruise ship which can comfortably accommodate 300 people. It is docked at Panaji port and takes the visitors around Mandovi river during evenings.
