Shantaram wants BJP registration cancelled
PTI, PANAJI | 06 January 2012 22:32 ISTAll India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Shantaram Naik has said that the registration of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a political outfit should be cancelled considering their behaviour in the Parliament.
Naik is a Member of Standing Committee of Parliament on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, which submitted its report on Lokpal Bill.
the Rajya Sabha MP said that in view of the behaviour of the BJP in both Houses of Parliament during the last two sessions in which the party stalled the proceedings of Parliament by resorting to blackmailing tactics, the registration of the party in the office of the Election Commission of India should be cancelled forthwith.
He said that BJP MPs have taken oath, firstly before the respective Returning Officers and later on before the Presiding Officers of the respective Houses, that they will bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution of India.
Naik says that every political party is required to register itself in the office of the Election Commission of India under section 29-A of the Representation of Peoples' Act 1951.
He further added that, every political party has to submit along with their application for registration a copy of memorandum, Rules and Regulation which should contain a specific provision that the association bears "true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established and to the principles of socialism, secularism and democracy."
He said since BJP has violated their own Rules and Regulations, besides the provisions of Constitution of India, BJP needs to be de-recognized by way cancellation of it's registration.
Naik said a protest for a day or two could be understood but stalling the proceedings for days together and not allowing important legislations to be passed indicates that BJP has no respect or regard for the democratic values.
"BJP is dangerously moving towards fascist philosophy while retaining their allegiance to the Constitution of India for namesake," he alleged.
Shantaram must be suffering from selective amnesia. past records show that the MP's of congress party, to whom he owes his allegiance, for stalling the proceedings of Parliament by resorting to such tactics, which would have put the taiwanese MP's into shame.
Once upon a time Shantaram was called as 'Hero of Zero hour, however it would not be improper in now terming him by saying 'Congress Hero with Big Zero.
shantaram ,thought you were a littrate, decent honarable human but brushing shoulders with scounderls and rapists u have lost all honarable and decency that a human can have.
How disgusting. In fact you should the 1st whose registration should be cancelled from Rajya Sabha. How dare you support a rapist the congress leader John Fernades in The Rajya Sabha by saying that the character of the ladies should be taken into consideration during any rape case.
Shantaram is Digvijay singh of Goa. No need to take him seriously. even sonia gandhi doesnt take him seriously i think.
We expect our respected MPs to raise their voice to demand higher share of revenue of thousands of crores being collected from this small State by the Centre...There is much need for improving the infrastructure including the Galgibag/Talpona/Zuary bridges, roads, power supply, water supply and creating jobs for the unemployed and underemployed...The mining exploitation is a typical example where the cream goes in the pockets of a few and huge revenue is collected by the Centre and the locals get nuisance in form of dirt, dust, dirty erratic water supply and lot many miseries...The filters of the water supply palt getting clogged and high manganese content in drinking water should attract the attention of the Hon. MP...
