Chabra to defy Censor Board and release Bhagat Singh online

After failing to make it to IFFI's Short Film Center, Chandigarh-based director Gaurav Chhabra today said he will release his film 'Inklab' online without any cuts as suggested by the Censor Board.

He screened his short film for private audience in a hotel outside the IFFI venue,

Inspired by the Assembly bombing by Bhagat Singh in 1929, the film was however was not given certificate by the Censor Board due to some comments.

Chabra claimed he was asked to delete nine scenes from his movie by the Censor Board and after he refused to comply, it was dropped from the festival screening list.

"The Censor Board objected to the scenes saying they violated section 5B of the Cinematographic Act 1952," Chhabra said.

"My film is on citizen activism... It will find its way through the Internet." He alleged that CBFC was acting as a political wing of the government and don't want any voice of dissent.

Chhabra, who is at IFFI as a delegate, said he has received support from activists of India Against Corruption (IAC), as his movie makes a statement on corruption.
