MGP also blames Digambar govt for illegal mining

Already under scanner for its alleged failure to put a leash on illegal mining in the state, the Congress-led Goa government has now drawn a flak from one of its own alliance partner - the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.
"It was completely a fault of the state government to protect illegal mining activity. We are of the opinion that illegal mining should be stopped. We should not let the Goan soil to be sold outside illegally," Maharashtravadi Gomantak Party (MGP) president Deepak Dhavalikar told reporters today.
Clarifying that MGP is not against legal mining business taking place since the Portuguese era, Dhavlikar blamed the Digambar Kamat-led Congress government for failing to put a tab on illegal mining which has been on rise since the last two years.
Dhavalikar, who was one of the members who did not sign the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report which exposed illegal mining in the state, however, cited short notice as the reason behind doing so.
"PAC chairman Manohar Parrikar did not even give me time to go through the report. I had asked him 24 hours to read the report before signing (it). I could just glanced through it," he added.
To a question why his party did not utter a single word over illegal mining during recently concluded Assembly session, Dhavlikar merely said "where was the session?," while refusing to elaborate further.
People are fed up of excuses and greed....Sharing the loot all these years and when the time comes for fresh elections or to leave the plum posts---abusing and mud slinging at own coalition partners can suit only selfish politicians and those who do not find anything wrong in betrayals....All this makes one wonder as to what type of reps we elect to represent us....
