Goa government has decided to form a task force of experts who will come up with the suggestions to revive the ailing Marathi and Konkani primary schools in the state.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat in his speech on the occasion of Independence Day today said the task force will help to upgrade the level of education provided at the state-run Konkani and Marathi schools.
He said the task force would be soon set up within couple of months.
"I have expressed the idea. Now the government will work out the modalities and other details," Kamat said talking to reporters after the flag hoisting.
Kamat-led government, which has been facing intense protests after it recognised English as a Medium of Instruction (MOI), today declared score of measures to prep up Konkani and Marathi language education in the state.
The Chief Minister announced six point agenda for upliftment of Konkani and Marathi schools in the state.
"Each taluka will have one model Konkani and Marathi school from next academic year," he announced.
State government has also declared a scholarship of Rs 500 annually for each students studying in Konkani schools.
"Subjects like Maths and Social Science would be translated in Konkani and Marathi," he added.
Kamat said the formation of third district is also under consideration as there is a demand for decentralisation of power.
"We have already formed additional Dharbandora taluka as an attempt to decentralise the power," he recalled.
The Chief Minister also assured that the land use plans, known as Regional Plans, for all the talukas would be ready by next one and half months.
"We have notified plans for eight talukas and rest would be notified within one and half months," he said.
