The Nationalist Congress Party yesterday demanded resignation of Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik, alleging his involvement in harbouring the drug trade in the state.
"Naik is responsible for the mess and he should immediately step down from the ministry," he said.
Briefing media persons in presence of party office bearers including legislator Fransisco Micky Pacheco, Sirsat said the Congress minister should stop playing with law and order in the state.
Mickky said that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat should sack Naik and set an example before the people.
"NCP has been demanding that the drug nexus issue should be handed over to CBI but government is averse to do so. Why are they so much worried? Let the truth come out," the former Tourism Minister said.
"If Suresh Kalmadi was investigated within two months in the CWG scam, if union minister Raja had to resign after allegations of spectrum scam, then why is that the Congress adopting double standards when it comes to Goa," Mickky questioned.
Goa police and drug lord nexus was exposed last year when Israeli drug lord Atala alias Yaniv Benaim was caught on camera confessing about his links with the officers.
A year later, another Police Sub Inspector Sunil Guddlerwas caught on camera by two foreign girls when he tried to sell them charas.
