NIA suspects 'larger' conspiracy in bomb blast

The National Investigtion Agency suspects a 'much larger conspiracy' into the bomb blast case, which involves Sadhak of Sanatan Saunstha. Mystery has also been surrounded around 'Accused No 10', one of the five abscoinding accused in the case.

The NIA chargesheet names total 11 accused, who wanted to kill innocent people on the night of Narkasur Vadh competition on 16 October 2009.

Two of them, the Sadhak of Sanatan Saunstha, died on the spot. Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik.

Four were arrested by Goa police during investigation - Vinay Talekar, Vinayak Patil, Dhanajay Ashtekar and Dilip Mangaonkar.

But Five more are still absconding. Interestingly, they are numbered like this in the chargesheet:
A7 : Jai Prakash alias Anna
A8 : Rudra Patil
A9 : Sarang Kulkarni
A10 : ???
A11 : Prashant Juvekar

Who is this accused number 10? The NIA says it is not yet known. If not known, why he - or she - has not been numbered at 11? Why 10? Does he/she belong to Sanatan Saunstha?

Malgonda Patil was the managing trustee of Sanatan Saunstha. Was this number 10 above him or below him? Or is he/ she from outside the Sanatan Saunstha?

The mystery apparently would be solved only after the NIA completes this investigation and files its final chargesheet. The district and sessions court had already granted permission to the NIA, after filing the chargesheet, to investigate further into the case.

The NIA however is just not looking out for the absconders to arrest them and close the file. They are looking out for a 'much bigger conspiracy' behind the bomb blast.

The chargesheet says it clearly: "A7 to A11 (numbers of accused) are absconding and their custodial interrogation is needed to unearth the larger conspiracy of this case."

What is this larger conspiracy however is still now known. Was it just to kill the chief minister and the government officials or to create communal riots is still a question mark.

Many citizens in Margao have already expressed their opinion in this regard. According to them, if the bombs had exploded at the venue of Narakasur competition, the immediate target would have been the minorities -the Muslims.

The chargesheet also clearly points out at a conspiracy hatched just not in Goa but inlcuded several places in Maharashtra like Sangli, Pune, Kolhapur, Ichalkaranji, Mumbai etc as well as parts of Karnataka. The canvas of the investigations thus is much wider.

The NIA has still not implicated Sanatan Saunstha in the case, though all 10 accused named in the case belong to Sanatan Saunstha.

While Malgonda Patil was the managing trustee of the organisation, Dilip Mangaonkar had even attended martial training the Saunstha was imparting in Valpoi, at the residence of Dr Pandurang Marathe, till 2005, states the chargesheet.

It also points out that Malgonda was staying close to the room of Dr Jayant Balaji Athawale, the head of Sanatan Saunstha. He had met Ashtekat in the same room, states the chargesheet.

In this respect, the findings of investigations, especially the larger conspiracy and unknown accused number 10 would be really interesting.
