Where is China ban, asks Sesa Goa

Downplaying the apprehensions of China banning low quality iron ore, Vedanta Resources group firm, Sesa Goa today said that they have not come across any notification speaking of restrain or ban.

"We have not come across any such notification (by China) despite the fact that we have our office in China," Sesa Goa's managing director PK Mukherjee told reporters in Panaji.

He said that whatever that is being spoken is just a news and there is no concrete notification received by them.

"There are various news emerging about China. There was news that they were not buying ore from three major exporters," he said.

"If they ban three major exporters and also restrict or ban low grade ore than how does it reconcile? How will their steel industry survive?," he questioned.

Goa's mining industry is reeling under acute tension after reports claiming that China intends to ban low grade ore.

Mukherjee said that `so far, Sesa's business has not been impacted with China's reported ban'.

It is a shame on we Goans that China has to reduce import of Iron ore from Goa and buy it from other countries and we have to rejoice for saving our environment and damage to waterbodies and other devastating effects on the local people. Instead if we the people could exercise restraints on the unscrupulous corrupt politicians to reduce mining menace and save Goa, it would be a real thing to rejoice! What a shame that even for a better future of Goa, we are not united and dont have one voice!

Wish Sesa Goa can now digest today's news of iron ore ban and why China will go for the better grade of Iron Ore from Africa. Media goes under severe studies before reports are published and hope Sesa Goa may understand what they are hiding. TOI has reported today 27th May 2010- As nearly half of India's export companies will be wiped out following China's buying spree of mining reserves totaling 2 billion tons in Africa worth billions of dollars. Relief for Goans now and Rest for Peace to the activists. Sesa Goa and Vendanta must now tell the truth to the public and shareholders, what their office in China is reporting on the iron ore ban.

Mr. Menino Fernandes, some of the department heads are pure Babus who are sychophants/chamchas of their political bosses and wag their tails at the slightest signal from their masters and that is the reason why they put their spokes in projects for the good of the masses which their masters dont want to come but at the same time want to show that they are in favour of completing such projects but unable to do so because of the objections! I remember a case where one department moving a proposal for road widening due to public pressure as it was necessary to avoid accidents but the other department under the same minister opposing the proposal and the project going under cold storage and the clever corrupt minister taking the money in his own constituency for fixing interlocking tiles for the footpaths-- leaving the poor helpless commuters to face fatal accidents! It is unfortunate that a section of the voters vote blindly the same corrupt faces for petty personal gains!

I heard that Chinas ban on low grade iron ore import is a rumour spread by some of the local mine owners just to create panic among the people of goa specially truck owners, barge owners, local cotractors so that miners will get support from these people to face the agitators who are asking regulations in mining transport in goa.

Vishwas, devastation has already been caused, damage has already been done, China should forthwith ban the ore to save and salvage what little is left of a natural Goa. Why don’t the forest department ban the same in the name of saving nature and forests of Goa? The Forest Department had blocked the underground cabling of electricity and had not allowed to lay cables in the forested areas or along the forest. It happened in our Valpoi Satari (not Sattari) Taluka.. So if laying of the cables destroys the forest then what about mining? The Forest department is like a pimp, sorry to say so and forgive me my language. Are the Goa Forest officials sleeping? – Menino (Valpoi)

If China has not banned import of low grade ore from Goa, it should do so immediately to save this land from complete devastation and damage which could never be set right even by spending millions of rupees by the future generations if they so decide!

If China has not banned the import of low grade ore from Goa as yet, it should do it with immediate effect to save this land from complete devastation and disgrace! The ireversible

harm would be difficult to mend e
