Hospitality to create 1 lakh jobs in 3 years

India's hospitality industry is optimistic about creating 1 lakh jobs within the next three years, the Hotels and Restaurant Association said today.
Getting the required professionals, however, will be a difficult task, according to the HRA, an umbrella association of the hospitality sector, which said the demand will be four times more than the manpower available.
Over the next three years, all the hospitality institutes in the country will produce just 25,000 professionals, HRA's senior official Sunil Kothari said at a press conference held here today.
"Even considering both government and non-government institutions training the students, it wont meet the demand," he said, adding, "considering the expansion plans and new projects planned, the manpower of one lakh is required to serve the need."
He said that the average ratio is one trained person per hotel room. "There are nearly 1,00,000 hotels rooms being constructed all over the country," Kothari explained.
Kothari said that sensing the shortage, the hospitality industry is in talks with the central government to launch short-term courses to train more students for the job.
Creating jobs for the sons of the soil is very good! This will reduce the number of young talents going out of the country leaving back their families and repatriating the scare foreign exchange to feed their families back home! In Goa this amount alone will run in thousands of crores every year and what little they expect is to preserve their mother land for the future generation without destroying it by activities like mining or selling the dwellings to people all over the globe creating demographical imbalances!
