24-hr water supply by Dec '14

Goa Government today announced augmentation of its major water resources projects, which will provide round-the-clock supply to the state by the end of 2014.

State PWD Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar told reporters after chairing the meeting of senior officials that the state will get 24x7 water supply by next year-end.

"Goa currently has two reservoirs--one at Selaulim in South and another at Opa in North--which supply water for the state. But certain part of South Goa remains unfed due to scarcity of water," the minister said.

Dhavalikar said 100 MLD water treatment plant at Sanguem in South Goa would be operational by 2014 which will support round-the-clock water supply for the South Goa district, currently dependent on Selaulim.

Admitting that "non-revenue" water is a major cause of concern, the minister said "wastage of water which is up to 40-50 per cent, would be scaled down to 35-40 per cent initiating various measures".

He said that almost 150 MLD water is wasted every day due to reasons like illegal connection, theft, non billing and others causing revenue loss of Rs 100 crore annually.

THERE SHOULD BE RE-CHARGE SYSTEM TO PAY ELECTRICITY & WATER BILLS LIKE MOBILE RE-CHARGE. NO WATER & WATER ELECTRICITY IF NO RE-CHARGE.

I wouldn`t trust this man Dhavilikar.

What he really means is that only Politicians will get a 24x7 water supply.

He has learnt the "Tricks of the PWD Trade" from Churchill Alemao.

What has happened to Churchill Alemao`s water Tank scams? ...and supply of free water to 5*Hotels for "benefits in kind"?

Is the Goa Government awaiting a Social Activist to file a FIR?

Water & Electricity should be easily available to the common man, as this will generate the income for the Government. These are paid services and should not be delayed in giving connections to the houses of the common man.
