Govt declares amnesty to 'forger' Govt servants

Goa government, the biggest employer of the state, has decided to provide amnesty to all those who have forged their documents to get government jobs.

“Either put your documents properly on record or quit the job honourably; we will not file criminal against them”, said chief minister Manohar Parrikar in the Assembly today.

The House witnessed a heated debate on cancellation of appointments by the new BJP government of many candidates who were employed during the regime of erstwhile Congress government.

Opposition leader Pratapsing Rane, St Cruz MLA Babush Monseratte, Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lourenco and Fatorda independent MLA Vijay Sardesai consistently demanded that innocent youth should not be punished.

While stating that he has referred all the cases of irregularities to the Anti Corruption Branch of the Police, Parrikar said he had appointed youth in almost 37 departments after elections, based on the commitment given before election.

“It proves that my government has not acted with vengeance but in a fair manner since all these youth belong to Goa”, said Parrikar.

The appointments in certain departments were made in haste, without even following proper procedures while election code of conduct of was imposed, he said.

According to him, only such cases of irregularities were put on hold, pending investigations.

He said appointments in nine departments were made even without applications.

Besides amnesty, Parrikar said he has worked out a second solution of relaxing the period of two years where applications were invited but appointments got delayed.

“People who have completed 40 years would be employed in such cases”, he clarified.

However, when opposition members kept on demanding justice to innocent unemployed youth, Parrikar asked them whether he should file criminal cases against them so that courts could give them proper justice.

“Employment is the right of whole Goa and not any particular constituency or party”, he said.
