Govt Govt won't renew Shah-indicted mining leases, reassures Parrikar

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that iron ore mining leases of companies indicted in the report of the Justice (retd) M. B. Shah Commission of Inquiry will not be renewed.

Of the 28 mining leases whose stamp duty has already been paid, the government will renew 20 leases, he said here on Tuesday.

The State government has decided to go ahead with the renewal of leases based on its recently approved State mining policy for renewal of iron ore leases by exercising powers under Section 8(3) of the Mines and Mineral Regulation and Development (MMRD) Act, 1957.

The policy is meant to renew the mining leases of those lease holders who have paid stamp duty and in which cases no violations were found by various probes, including those by the Shah Commission and Public Accounts Committee of the State Legislative Assembly.

The State government is under pressure from mining companies as well as a large number of mining dependents, including mining workers, who have faced financial hardships for over two years since the mining and exports of ore came to a grinding halt.

It’s a miracle. In Hundreds names, BJP declared 3 names and in that 3 names, 1 name came of Goa Miner. That’s means even God wanted to probe Mining Scam in Goa. God is supporting Goans to recover 35 Thousand Corers and to get Mining share to all Goans, irrespective of involved or not involved in the Mining sector. More Mine Owners names are going to come. Even Mopa Land Scamsters name are going to come. AAP is in full swing in exposing Black Money Holders in Foreign Banks. Kudos To Prashant & Arvind.
