Cong opposes Govt selling mining dumps

Congress has opposed Goa government’s proposal to the Supreme Court to take over and sell the 750 million tones of mining dumps.

Francisco Sardinha, the South Goa MP and GPCC working president, has also opposed the idea of nationalizing the mines.

The nationalisation demand was recently echoed by Adv Prashant Bhushan, the Goa Foundation lawyer and Aam Aadmi Party leader.

Instead of selling the dumps, Sardinha feels that the dumps should be used to fill the mining pits.

In its affidavit to the Supreme Court, Goa government has urged to allow the government to sell the dumps.

Government feels that it would accrue revenue to the state and employment to the affected people in the mining sector.

The mining dumps, which have been termed illegal, has been quantified as 750 million tonnes by the centrally empowered committee appointed by the Supreme Court.

Sardinha in fact plans to impress upon the mining ministry not to allow such a trade.

While opposing the idea of nationalisation of mines, Sardinha claimed that such previous experiments have been a failure.

Problem with Mr Sardinha,is he doesnt know when to put a stop to nonsense.

He seems to be in the habit of moving from one nonsense to another.

The only thing that changes is the words he uses and the way he conveys it.

He claims to be that he envisages Goa in 50 years time.

Hope he knows that Goans are not fools and we envisage the same.
