CEC's next report on action against "political bosses"

Following interim report filed yesterday on illegally mining in Goa, the Centrally Empowered Committee would file its next report suggesting punitive action against the erring officials, other “public functionaries” and others.

“Obviously these public functionaries include political bosses, including then mines minister Pratapsing Rane and Digambar Kamat”, says Ramesh Gawas, the activist fighting illegal mining.

While making several recommendations to put a complete stop to illegal mining and regulate mining operations in Goa, the CEC has stated its next report would focus on four issues.

The first one among it would be punitive action against the officials, public functionaries and others.

The second one is equally important – “compensation payble by the defaulting lease holders and others.”

The third one is regarding cancellation of the mining leases, which are found to be involved in substantial illegal mining and other serious illegalities.

The fourth would be all other issues which have not been adequately dealt with in this report.
