The Directorate of Panchayats has reserved total 818 seats for women, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class. 663 seats are unreserved.
Total 477 seats are reserved for women, including 41 for ST women and 80 OBC women.
Total ST reserved seats are 108, including 67 for ST men.
Similarly, OBC reserved wards are 233, including 153 for OBC men.
As there are objections raised by some people that the reservation criteria have not been followed properly, the panchayat authorities are examining the issue once again.
If some anomalies are found, they would be corrected immediately, said panchayats minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
The normal criteria is to consider minimum 20 per cent ST or OBC population to keep any ward reserved for these communities.
