Blood-stained vest gives dramatic turn to Fr Bismarque death probe

Fr Bismarque Dias death probe took a dramatic turn today with three village boys finding a blood-stained vest near the Babhol Manos (sluice gate) in St Estevam village.
The Old Goa police will now send the white vest as well as the mud samples of the spot to find out whose blood it is.
Fr Bismarque was found dead, floating in the creek on 7 November, after a missing report was filed the previous day.
Two teenage boys from the village had told the police that they had gone to sluice gate on the night of 5 November, drinking almost two cartons of pint beer since evening till post-midnight.
Fr Bismarque went for a swim later while the boys went to sleep in the small hut at the sluice gate, to get up early morning at the sound of Mosque prayers in Pilgao, across the river.
As they found clothes and mobile of Fr Bismarque still lying on the back of the creek, the boys got scared and took a longer route to return to village quietly.
Adv Caroline Colaco told goanews.com that the vest was found today afternoon when three close accomplices of Fr Bismarque took the same longer route the boys had followed to return.
She, along with her senior Adv Peter D’Souza, has been engaged by the family to monitor the police investigation.
The reason to follow the route, she said, was some cars were reportedly seen parked on this route yesterday.
According to her, even the mud near the vest was found to be reddish.
North Goa SP Umesh Gaonkar said samples of both the vest and the mud would be now sent to the laboratory.
Since it is not possible to get blood sample of Fr Bismarque now, the police would tomorrow consult the local forensic experts to decide whether the samples should be sent for simple detection of blood or DNA profiling.
“The samples in any case need to be sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad”, he said.
The police are also awaiting the viscera report of Fr Bismarque’s body post-mortem while the local GMC report has stated that he had no pre-death injuries on his body.
Secondly, the clothes he had removed were lying on the bank while the vest is found almost 25 metres away from the spot he went into the water for a swim.
The real challenge before the police is thus to find out whom the blood-stained vest belongs to.
there are so many unanswered questions in this case. police are acting so dumb there must be pressure from their superiors or ministers.
